Pomerium 2.0
Rome 2021

The Pomerium is the name of a region in Rome with many historic landmarks surrounding our project sites such as a portion of the Aurelian Walls, Campo Barrio, and Monte Dei Cocci hill. There is also an area near the site to the south of the Campo Barrio that has a large homeless population and a neighboring garbage dump. The intended purpose of the building is to be a place of residence, enrichment for locals as well as potential employment by working with gardening on the Monte Dei Cocci. Additionally, the form of the building is a direct response to its surroundings with the facade facing the Monte Dei Cocci being terraced and curved and the side facing the Campo Barrio opening more near the ground level to encourage more street activity.
